just had an idea about using a Arduino with a wireless SD shield or sum sort of waterless module and a ps2 controller to make the remote for a warship because than you don't have deal with adding buttons and their pretty cheep too, just wondering if this would hypothetically posable.
    thanks

Yes, it's been done, didnt seem to go anywhere, there are some threads about it here somewhere.

That's a heck of a lot harder to do than to add buttons to a controller.

Is it worth cool points, absolutely. Is it worth doing to just for buttons or to try and save some money, probably not, traditional controllers aren't that expensive anymore, so you'd be saving what $20-30 but it would take a lot more work.

That said one of the great parts of this hobby is you can do so much with it, projects like that are a great example. If you want to do it, you should! (and post pics/process/etc here so we can admire it and be jealous. ;-) )

It's do-able but not recommended. PS2 controller thumbsticks lack resolution compared to proper RC controllers. Not they've got less steps of digital resolution, but the thumbsticks on playstation and xbox controllers are so much shorter than RC radio controls that you can't feel the position of the sticks precisely. R/C controllers are made the way they are for a very good reason.

would it help to lengthen the sticks?
