Do you think this would be a good idea?

I thought alot on recruiting near me to join this sport because i'm not able to pay for long trips often. And i'm not saying starting a club Because i think i want to join Port Polar Bear but I want to get poeple close to me just to meet up and have fun at anytime. I live river view so i'm in walking distance to 2 harbor and the Mississippi River. I am active in my boy scout Troop, so i'm woundering if it would be a good idea to do like a little show or some for them (and have them bring father's mothers and who ever)and show what them what it is and how they can become in this. And the benifits of which they can work with thier fathers or mother or whomever. If we could do that we could possiblely have an audiance of 100+ people and could be talked though lots more diffrent people and eventually sparking alot of intrest.

That sounds like a good idea. "Hobby Night" was a regular event in my scout troop, with either scouts or dad's bringing in thier hobby and giving short presentations on them. Is there anyone near you that could possibly come and bring a boat to show off. Having a boat there and someone that has battled and been in the hobby would be the way to do it. Or just build your boat and battle some and that person could be you.

I've done this with my kids scouting group. The kids and the dads loved it. I tell everyone about it all the time. You never know where the next battler will pop up. An article in the local paper is a good way to get the word out too. Our first regional up here had a full page article, I was shocked when 30+ spectators showed up. We picked up 3-4 new guys just from that one article.
There are some flyers on the Port Polar Bear web site that you can down load and change the contact info on to your info. Hang them up anyplace you can in your town.
Better start looking for a good battle pond too. If you find a nice one, about the size of a football feild and chest deep with no weeds will come to you to battle.

ic, Well i'm not that informed on this topic and about it so i might just use your posters and have your name and everything on them, Because they would ask me a whole bunch of questions about the sport and i couldn't honestly answer them all
