I’m new and this is all new to me. I’ve wanted to build a battleship for a long time but never understood how. I tried finding help on YouTube but there isn’t much posted. Finally I found you guys. I my first ship to be a fletcher or the USS Missouri. If anyone has beginner friendly plans that build a somewhat large ship that would be great.
    Thank you

Being in Michigan you're near a number of active battling captains who are on here. @Panzer @kgaigalas @Evan Fowler

So Fletcher and Missouri are both very difficult boats to build in completely opposite ways. A Missouri is the largest allied battleship in the game, the most complex to build, the most expensive, etc. It is very difficult to get right and extremely painful to try and play in the game if you build it poorly...aka everyone will come after you for lunch.

A fletcher is extremely small, the ship only weighs like 3lb in our hobby and is of extremely limited utility.

If I could make a recommendation, I'd check out something like a Cleveland class cruiser. Simple to build, useful enough that you wont immediately grow out of it and want to build something else. The South Jersey Shipyards cleveland kit is pretty easy for a new person to build to get started.

We also offer it as a Fargo class, which is basically the same boat wearing a different hat:

I'll let others chime in but to wrap it up: Welcome!

Take it from someone who built the USS New Jersey and didn’t build it to my liking and it ended up being a hard boat to get off the bottom and I will be building a new one at some point. I would definitely suggest a cruiser for a starter ship. My first ship was a Cleveland and from there I went into a Des Moines and then a super dreadnought which was the Rivadavia now I have a few more ships in the fleet.

I have 3 hull kits from @bsgkid117 and his SJS company (Texas,Blucher, LST) they make building in the hobby extremely easy. No need to cut ribs out of fiberglass or build your own wooden hull or lay down your own fiberglass hull.

you have a very active group of battler around you that have tons of knowledge to spread around they can definitely get you heading in the right direction. This forum is very good for getting more information and asking questions that may arise.

Also welcome to the most interesting hobby in the world.
