    Guys,
Til the weather gets warmer, I'm looking at building my own little boat box for my LST, it woudl open on all side, so pond side it would be a chair for me! anyway, what i was looking at using are the Everbilt 3-1/2 in. Square Corner Hinge Satin Brass Finish (http://www.homedepot.com/Doors-Windows-Door-Accessories/h_d1/N-5yc1vZbch2/R-202558079/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053) and let me know what you thing ok. But I have the wood to do it, but I'm not sure how to?? and this would be a winter thing, til it get warmer and I can work on my LST!! But It gives me something i can do on my own you know!

    Hi Nikki;
Having a case is a VERY good idea. My liberty ship survived a six foot drop thanks to being in a case!

That hing may or may not work.
Where are the plans for the case?
We would need a lot more information before we can say anything to help you on this project.

Take care Nikki and good luck with it.

    Tom,
This Would only be for When I take her to battle, And at home I have her in a 90Qt Bin!!! But My plan is, The For sides will Drop down and let me slid her sideways into the water, or just put the front side down!!! I'm still playing with the idea for right now!

So you want the four sides hinged to the base? I would suggest going with a standard wooden door hinge, although if you intend on submerging it, wood might be a bad idea - you know, the whole buoyancy thing it has going on.

A guy I know uses luggage straps with metal buckles to lift his boats in/out if the canal he boats on - the metal buckles help him maneuver the straps past the bow and stern without catching - this might be a good idea for you if you have problems getting it into the water.

    Dave,
I wonder If Rope would work to!!! That's Cheap! But the Hole Idea with this is have a smaller carry box for her so i don't have to drag the big 90Qt Bin every were!!

Rope would, but its got a round cross-section so you risk it slipping or rolling off, depending on the angle of the keel, plus it has a tendency to float, so it might snag on props and it won't sink when you try and pick it up again.

She has a Flat Bottom to her. so my other plan is to put a piece of wood there two, so she wouldn't slid out!!! But I'm Just playing with some Ideas right now, nothing is settled at this point!!! I might just get a smaller transport bin for her!

    Tom,
I've always done wood working! I've built build houses bat houses, So it would be hand to do!!! plus, my little LST is only 27inches long, 4inche wide and 4inches high, with the SS! My plan is to build it 30inches long x 6inches wide x 6inches high, that way, i can have two carrie strips to carry the box with!

Nikki, a carry box for your boat is a very good idea, but don't get too carried away with trying to make it do too many things. It's a boat box, first and foremost.
The boxes I have are 1/4" plywood, made so the front can be opened on brass hinges and they don't have lids on them. I just throw a cloth cover over them for storage.
This allows any remaining moisture in them to dry out, which is a good thing. Our ships do absorb some water into thier balsa, and a sealed box makes for rusty ship parts.
Allow room in the box for at least 1" of sponge rubber to hold your ship in place when you shut the box.

The LST hardly needs a carrier at all, as it's so small. I never bother with lifting or carrying devices for my Liberty, too much hassle. Just the transport box.
A set of lifting straps made from nylon seatbelt webbing would be all you'd ever need and only then if you don't want to kneel down to lift her from the pond.
