Besides the material whats the difference bettween wood and fiberglass hulls? I mean like pros and cons of each.
Wood: a 'soul', normally cheaper, needs waterproofing, harder, +less internal space Fiberglass: more internal space, can buy from many people, longer lasting, easier, harder to do waterchanneling
I've seen wood ships older than most fiberglass ships. It's all in how you take care of them. Wood hulls take longer to build and requires basic wood working skills. You can build a ship that does not have a fiberglass hull on the market. Fiberglass hulls tend to take less time to build. Self leveling concrete sealant makes waterchannels a snap. Ship selection can be limited to hulls on the marketplace.
Wood: Lighter Can be cheaper(but not always, depends on plans/wood/tools etc that you need to buy and your general wood working/modeling skills) Ship selection only limited by what plans you can get No cutting Fiberglass!!!!! Harder to build Lasts longer cause its more durable if built correctly Easier to attach things to As scale and detailed as you care to make it More Buoyant Fiberglass: Easier to get Faster Limited types available Harder to attach things to No control over the scale and details of the hull Less tools required Easier upkeep and maintenance More space That is about all I can think of at the moment. I don't think that one is that much better than the other, they are just different. EDIT: We talked about this a while ago, reading this thread may be helpful to you. Visit this site
