    Hey everyone,
The names Ben. I am just now getting into this new hobby from R/C plans. Are there kits available that I can put together or do I have to build these ships from scratch? I love the detail of the ships and the hobby interaction of sea battles! Information, websites, Input appreciated!

There are some kits. Check out battlers connection. Charlie is always very helpful. Some of the guys here make limited runs of kits as need arises. Rceng is one who leaps to mind. Very nice kit he designs.

Mostly you will see a lot of scratch builds though as there's just more of them out in the wild. Lol. Things are changing though. Good time to be a modeler.

Are the detailed pieces made from just people who have 3D Printers now adays? So I can’t buy the individual pieces from my local hobby store?

Detail parts have never really been available from local hobby stores, only BC and a handful of others make superstructure parts for this hobby....

We either build em from scratch or if your lucky someone will do the cad work so it can be printed. But as stated above this has never been a hobby niche that has been served by the main stream manufacturing community. Every gun ever used in our ships has been hand built by someone.

Welcome. You should reach out to @Charley directly, he lives about an hour outside of Knoxville and is the closest battler to your location . He’s a busy guy but it’s much more valuable to check boats out in person and get your questions answered if you can work something out

This definitely gives me more appreciation for the hobby! I guess I am just spoiled with buying parts online or going to the local store for things in the R/C world.

It's a lot of work but it's worth it to see your ship on the glistening water! just dont sink. Well, dont be devastated when you sink.
