I am wondering how we will do the Penetrable area above the waterline? Most Victorian era ships had a decent slope coming off the waterline. If we have to maintain the 1" above the waterline it will not be hard to put in widows. The issue with casements ect will have to be worked out.
If I build the waterline up with a decent slope, I most likely will want to have my desk removable someplace close to the waterline, this will force a stringer above the waterline to enable me to build up a sturdy frame to remove the deck.
I will show you what I am talking about when we build this weekend.
Also there will be appendages along the hull like large fans/ducts/wings/casements ect...
I don't think it will be too much of a issue as we do not score hits, only sinks.

That slope is called tumblehome and the Frenchies sure loved it. Looking at the example pics, it looks like all the casements and turret bases built on top of the tumblehome would start at or above where the scale 1" penetrable area stops. Should be relatively easy to build and still get an easy to remove deck without impacting the 1" area.
