Hi Mark, The plans we used in Nova Scotia to build the hulls for I-400 show them with one rudder. Just thought you would like to know. (I can't post on the Treaty site) J
From the line drawings I have, I cannot tell for certain if there is a second rudder. Many of the Japanese subs (see I182 below for instance) had rudders on the top of the fuselage that would only be in the water when the sub submerged. My drawings of the I-400 show what looks to be this top rudder, but again I cannot be sure. If anyone knows for certain, please let me know. Mark
OK, if the top counts as a second rudder, (never thought about that), then I-400 has two. I will try to scan the arse end and post it. J
Here is the arse of the plans we used, I darkened the skeg in a bit. The drawing shows the STBD prop on the outside of the skeg which leads to a single rudder on the bottom. A top view of the boat doesn't show any rudder which means it is dirrectly under the hull. One rudder above and one below, the boat should turn pretty good. We wil let you know J
Hey Guys, I don't see any of the Royal Australian Navy, there two I"m looking for info on Perth and sydney!!! Nikki
Silly question, could we make a 'focused' ship list thats buildable? Hulls greater than 9lbs or so? Mabey go as far as a guide that identifies key allied/ axis boats and what makes them strong contenders? Mabey some illustrations of what's a haymaker, a death-Y? A boat that's a 'slugger' vs a cruiser w/ stern guns & how they're played. Perhaps outline some of the 'key' differences of clubs/ formats? Can my boat go to Nats or some other big event? Etc. Anyways, thanks everyone for making this hobby what it is! I'm excited to get out there & battle it up!
