    Nope. Ribs can be any width. The guiding factor to rib width is how many ribs you want the ship to have and how much hard area you have left after the bow and stern area is taken away. If you want a lot of ribs, then the ribs will be narrower. If you are happy with few ribs, then the ribs may be wider. That is what makes the rib calculator so handy ... it will figure out how many ribs a ship can have at a certain rib width.

    Doria has two inches in the bow and the Sturn has an Inch!!! I didn't know that, Just gose to show you how knew I am with this!! What are the rule about inforcing the ribs, so if i stubidly drop her, the ribs don't brake??

    Nikki, you can back the rbs with anythng you like ,as long as they remain legal width. How you do it is up to you.

    Guys,
    The reason, I asked was, I found Art Stick, and they might just work to reinforce the rubs, if i can cut the the right way, Now that i have a hobby saw, i thing i can! Also, To make sure all the ribs were even, they aren't 7 of her ribs, which are 1,2,5,6,17,18, and 19 are 3/8inches and 12-are a 1/4inch which are 3,4,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16!! Are there any idaes??? I'm not trying to crap about it, I just went to know what i should do? i know strike sells the 3/8inch and 1/4inch tape, but i don't know if that something i can do with wall tape or no? Also, Isn't the 3/8th inch bigger then the 1/4 of an inch???

    Dose anyone know if the Doria, has bilge keels? i thing she did but i'm not totally sure!

    I wouldn't worry about the bilge keels the Doria is going to be stable enough that you don't need them if your battery is centered

    I don't usually find that the larger SLA's move around, but I have some square 1/4" wooden strips at the bottom of the hull on some of my ships to keep the battery in place.

    HA HA! No i'm not working, But I'm hoping to go to mike's two day build day!! the nice thing with that cart is i can hold both my LST And Doria!

    The bad thing about the cart is that it is yet another piece of equipment that has to be hauled around. :)

    During my first year of battling, I used to take EVERYTHING. Tables, chairs, pop-up tent, two or three boxes full of stuff, a couple tool boxes, extra 12v batteries to charge 6 volt batteries, and so on, and so forth ...

    All of that stuff was nice to have, but not critical to bring to a boat battle. Over the few short years I have been in the hobby, I have pared down the amount of things taken to a battle to the essentials. For instance, specialty switches or electronics that cannot be bought in a local hobby shop or Lowes, small 1' piece of pre-prepped sheeting, props, glue and small cans of paint, pre-cut silkspan in a single sandwich bag, basic tools (can borrow specialty tools at a battle from people who bring everything), and so on. Eliminating the extra junk makes packing/unpacking faster and less of a chore. I used to have to drive a truck to a battle ... now everything fits into the trunk of our car.

    My recommendation is leave the cool unnessary stuff at home when going to a boat battle. Oh, and spend time working on the ship instead. :)

    I could never Put doria in the Truck of my mom car! She's small enought to fit in the back set of my mom car with me and my LST on my lap, I know that's a bad idea, but she's small enought to do that!!!

    Well, I'll put it to you this way. God forbid you ever get in a car accident with a model boat like that sitting on your lap and it goes flying. It will really hurt. I would suggest you get over putting it in the trunk, and put it in the trunk once you finish it and are ready to take it to the pond.

    That being said, quit worrying about buying other stuff for your boat. You have lots to do before you will get to the point of actually needing anything else.

    Seriously. Boat in trunk. Its much safer for it and you. And skip the cart, carts are just a good way to vibration test your ship and drop test it.
