Heck I have a Scharnie in my closet too. Though I have a hankering for a Breslau. There is something about German Cruisers that I just love.

My secret Nats convoy ship. I will need to layer the hull with glass for strength. I replaced the plastic deck with 1/8 wood. All 3 decks come off. WIll have to see before long if it will even float upright. [IMG]
    What is she Clark?

She actually carried 2, 6 pound guns, so was thinking about arming her, she is large enough, but I think s 74 gun ship will be fround on as it is.

Now that looks interesting. Which kit are you converting? And are you planning screw propulsion only, or will you have sails as well?

I want to add some sails, but I'm afraid it will be top heavy. So maybe just the lower course. I'm not converting a kit, its the actual ship kit. She was launched in 1931, and still sails today.

If you ballast the keel it should be stable enough, if you have the weight to spare that is. Alternately you could fabricate masts and rigging from straws or some such. I can't imagine that they would add much weight.

I looked through a couple of sources, but I'm drawing a blank. I just got home froma weekend of camping with the Boy Scotus, and I'm too tired to think. I think it'll be something refreshingly different on the water, though!

Today, I achieved a personal best: SMS Scharnhorst is ready in all respects for battle, the weekend before the next battle! No 'Friday night before the battle emergency construction!'
I will take some pics tomorrow, I was so excited about getting Scharnie done and making progress on Othar that I only took pics of Othar! Still got some work to do on Scharnie's SS, but it has more and better SS than I've ever had on one of my ships (lol).
