Sounds like it was a great Baptism of fire. You'll get the bugs worked out.

I bet it worked great on the bench ;) Something about being in combat that makes you realize shortcomings you never see when you are out "sailing".

Yea there are no rocks on the bench.. YIKES. But yea I had tested the pump before but somehow the outlet became crimped, a new straight outlet fixed the problem. I guess the pump didnt prime or it tipped sideways because it was working perfectly when I pulled the ship from the bottom after the second sink. The pump servo had been working fine in the 2.5 hours I ran prior to the event but I hadnt just left it on before. I had two servos melt from the stress, so its a new pump switch using a firing board powering a relay. That will fix that problem. The guns.... well that may take a while as I dont know as much about them. They work fine on the shore and will fire as fast as I hit the test button. On the water... well they only seem to fire every third push. So I am replacing the servos with firing boards and will see what happens.

Yes it was! I was looking inside the bow after I took out the internal armor and WOW is there ANY balsa left.... Looks like 1-3 panels to replace before the April battle. I did have fun though and I am determined to make this ship work well.

Sounds like the servo power source dropped in voltage. It also looks like you are taking a lot of steps to make the ship more reliable. It's funny how we normally first build "old school" and then then upgrade. My first boat was all servos and now I only have rudder servos in any of my boats.

That video cruising around the pond with the sailboats makes me think you should've been doing some commerce raiding!

I was tempted to ram sink a few sailboats but they run a rental place there and I didnt want to be a pest. I just kept to the side most of the time.
