xmas off and trying to start work again. below layout shows three SLA batteries and two 9oz co2 bottles. with this configuration both the forward and aft guns will have the most room under them and the weight is in the center of the ship. going to have to modify or remove the water channeing to place SLA and c02 bottles. It is still real tight to get everything in, even with this layout. did try a 20oz bottle, but front guns would have to change if put up front under them. if placed mid ship, would only be able to have 2 SLA batteries then. One SLA could be place in the bow under guns, but again guns would most likly have to be modified. as show, ship weighted in at 23lbs.
Have you considered going with LiFE cells for power? You could have 40 amp hours of capacity for half the weight of SLA cells. A four cell battery runs around $125 from Battery Space. The cells can be wired up into two 20ah packs, one for the pump and one for the rest of the ship and will last an entire day's worth of battling or cruising the pond.
I did look into it some but did not follow thru with it. the SLA is pretty much what i have learned now. the kid also uses the same and our cargo ships also use SLA. trying to keep it simple, easy and the same. it is the wave of the future and will have to imbrace it some time.
I think I know what happen now to the pics. was cleaning out my folder with pics in it, getting to many. when I deleted them, it deleted them for this posting. did not know that would happen, but do now
Artistic license? I won't complain about artistic license on paint schemes - it has turret covers and superstructure, and he's going to let me shoot at it...
Couple things... That mesh stuff as internal armor won't be sufficient to protect your internals. It gets brittle very quickly and many guns shoot through it anyway. I'd put in shower pan liner as soon as you can. Don't want guns being dinged, batteries poked, and other things broken. Also, I'm not sure what rule set you are using, but Bismarck class only gets 3 sidemounts in MWC, not sure about IRCWCC though. Lief's has 3 sidemounts and the gun in 'B' turret is a 15 degree offset bow gun, not really a true sidemount. Just double check the rule set you are using to make sure it is allowed.
got 4 side mounts. can only have three? if only three...then aft D turrett can have a cannon point aft but not more than 15 degress of center line.
Per the rules you only get one fixed sidemount and one rotate per side in separate turrets. I interpret that to mean you could have two rotates that move to opposite sides so that you always have one fixed and one rotate sidemount per side. While I cant speak for our club I dont see it as a big deal if the "rotates" dont actually rotate. No different than if a servo failed or you simply didnt want to switch them around.
MWC only allows three sidemounts on the Bis. IRCWCC allows four sidemounts and cannons can share the same turret.
Having the 4 sidemounts is legal in MWC if you pin one of them. You can switch which gun is pinned between sorties, too. Not saying I would, but you could. EDIT: What I'm saying is, as long as you only have 3 firing sidemounts at any given time, you're good. But the extra must be pinned, it can't just be 'not firing at the moment'.
Gun placement legal for IRCWCC, for MWC you would probably move the rear gun to shoot straight off the rear. Some people run two off the back. Nice clean build, I agree with the shower pan liner, your boat can handle the weight. I run heavy rubber liner in mine
And just to throw an additional wrinkle. IRCWCC is voting whether to move the BIS back to a 6.5 unit ship.
